Hang in there Kiddo

Hang in there kiddo explores the idea of the nostalgic home and the way memories slowly fade over time. Born and brought up in Kolkata and later moving to the United States, living in this new environment, I feel like my mind is an outdated hard drive with limited storage space—almost full—where every new experience risks overwriting something I want to hold onto. I find myself clinging to memories I’m not ready to lose, moments from childhood that feel like the core of who I am. My drawings are my way of resisting that loss—they’re visual attempts to preserve what’s slipping away, to keep my roots alive, and to hold on to a sense of identity that feels increasingly fragile.

Central to these drawings is my use of crayons—a material often dismissed as childish, yet deeply tied to the memories I aim to preserve. The overtly complicated images scratched into layers of multicolored crayons juxtaposes a playful, simplistic technique with the emotional and conceptual complexities of memory.
